We're so excited to share with you the inspiring stories of our champions for children who are making a profound impact to the lives of vulnerable children and their families.
We'll also keep you up to date with our latest news and upcoming events.

At Barnardos, we listen, we act, and we advocate for the safety of children who are at risk of abuse and neglect. We provide intensive, holistic family support programs that empower these children to reach their full potential and have a brighter future.

But we can’t do this work alone…

Our champions come from all walks of life, and they share one goal: to keep children safe from abuse and neglect.

It is with thanks to all of our champions and supporters, that Barnardos was able to support 10,987 vulnerable children, young people and families in 2021 and this year we aim to help many more.

We hope you are deeply moved and inspired by these stories of courage and determination.

Our impact in 2021

Empowering children to achieve

At the Bundaleer Community Centre in Warrawong, Barnardos not only provides homework help and breakfast / afternoon snacks, it also offers a safe space for kids to hang out with friends.

Shaniece shares her experience of coming full circle at the Bundaleer Community Centre. How Barnardos believed in her when she was a kid, as a teenager, and now as she works to help younger children in the same community.

A new life together

One of the many things that made Bernadette and Matt Latimer decide to open their hearts and home to siblings was that they didn't want anyone to be pulled apart. They didn't want them going to different homes where they'd grow up not knowing their family.

These champions are proud to give 4 siblings, Zander, Eve, Isaac and Zavier a permanent place to call home. Be inspired by their story and the real difference they are making to their lives.

It takes a village

When Ellie had her first child she struggled to cope with parenthood and felt isolated and depressed. 

Our supported playgroup program helped her find a life-changing network that gave Ellie the tools to understand her children's needs and manage the challenges of parenting. 

Now she feels that she can be the best mum possible.

On the ground this month

The Barnardos Lithgow FCS team and the Penrith Youth team were lucky enough to partner with Totem Skateboarding and Lithgow City Council for an exciting day of skating, community engagement and fun at Portland.
