Children are the hidden victims of domestic violence and their trauma has been overlooked for far too long. Barnardos' research shows that the damage caused by violence in childhood can last a lifetime in the form of mental, emotional and educational issues.
Children need tailored services to heal. Families need early intervention to prevent the violence. Learn more about what you can do to take action and help us raise awareness on the serious impact that domestic violence has on children.
Kay is the program manager of our Barnardos Temporary Family Care team. She grew up in a family that fostered and adopted children, as she says "social work runs through my blood and is a real part of my identity".
