Every child needs a champion

Meet our wonderful foster carer Kulander

Kulander has been a carer with Barnardos for over 10 years. Fostering has helped connect him to the local community. "You end up sitting on the side of the soccer field each Saturday morning, you meet all the neighbours, you meet all of the other people in the area. And it's such a lovely warm sort of feeling that you get as a result of that."

"For any people that are interested, especially gay people, all I can say is that it will change your life."

Like so many children who have experienced abuse and neglect, 10-year-old Sam blames himself. 

Your gift helps more kids like Sam get the specialist support they need to process and heal from their trauma so they can build a brighter future.

Samar is just one of the young people Barnardos has supported through the Mt Druitt Project. She was struggling to take care of her mum and her sisters, balance school and work to pay the bills.

Barnardos was able to provide the financial and emotional support and now Samar is excited to start university this year.
