Welcome to June's edition of B. inspired!

This month, we are championing the cause of affordable housing as it relates to child safety. Hear from Cecile, one of our dedicated foster carers, on how fostering has changed her life for the better. Be inspired by John*, who has transformed his life and is now saving to buy a car. Make a positive impact on vulnerable children by making a tax-time donation today. Do 14Kms for Kids with the iconic City2Surf.

Housing is a child safety issue

When it comes to protecting children,
we never give up. The current economic climate is making it impossible for some families to survive.

Barnardos is calling on the Federal Government to shift some of the priorities outlined in the budget and seriously consider the impact on children.

We need more than acknowledgement
and the relatively small investment the budget promises if we are to end poverty, homelessness and domestic and
family violence.

It really is an enriching experience!

"Having children in the home, brings life into the home."

Cecile has been a foster carer with Barnardos for 9 years. In this video she shares her experience about fostering a teenage girl and how foster care has changed both their lives for the better.

"If you have an open heart, and you have the time, why wouldn't you have a child?"

"Barnardos gave me back my identity"

John* had a tough start to life, and he had a lot of anger and trust issues. When Barnardos youth worker Nicole first met John she asked him what his goals were.

All he wanted was a single piece of paper with his name on it! John's birth had not been registered so he was unable to apply for other identification papers.

Nicole was able to help John piece together the information needed to apply for his birth certificate. "She made me feel heard, important and in charge of my destiny.  Having someone in my corner made all the difference." - John

Your tax-time gift really can make all the difference

Many studies have shown that when families experience increased economic hardship, the rates of child abuse and neglect increase as well.^

This cost-of-living crisis is putting those children who are already vulnerable to neglect and abuse at even greater risk.

Your gift this tax time can help provide these children with the support services they need to begin to heal from trauma.
