Welcome to April's edition of B. inspired!

This month we share our new collab with sass and bide - the limited 'Kind Hearts' sweater. You'll hear from Karen and James on how rewarding fostering an older child can be. We also celebrated the launch of our third Reconciliation Action Plan – our organisation’s roadmap towards reconciliation. And learn more about how you can create your own legacy through your will.

The limited sass & bide
2023 'Kind Hearts' sweater is here!

We are so excited to announce the release of the 2023 ‘Kind Hearts’ sweater as this year’s special collaboration with sass & bide with 100% of profits coming to Barnardos.

Through a day of play and creativity, each of the children from our Barnardos Yurungai Learning Centre drew their own heart designs to be placed on the sleeves of the 'Kind Hearts' sweater.

You have an opportunity to change the entire trajectory of a child's life

Foster carers Karen and James share what its like fostering an older child. "I think a lot of people are a little bit afraid of children being older but there’s no need for that."

Their 13 year old foster daughter has been with them for 2 years now. "The way she talks about herself now is the most special part, she always talks about herself having had a glow up and how confident she now feels." - Karen

Meet Mark

Mark is one of our program managers in Western NSW.

"There’s never a day that goes by in our office or our centres around the Central West where families don’t ring the door bell, come in and say, ‘Hey, I’m in crisis.’

If you go into your community with different eyes and allow your eyes to be open, you’ll see the trauma, you’ll see the disadvantage and you’ll see where perhaps where you can make a difference."

Barnardos Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2023 - 2025

Last month we came together to celebrate the launch of our third Reconciliation Action Plan – our organisation’s roadmap towards reconciliation.

Barnardos acknowledges the strength and resilience of Australia’s First Nations in their resistance against the forces of colonisation. We honour those who fought for their culture and identity. We work alongside them to support children and families – because they are our future.

Are you one of the 40% of Australians who do not have a Will?

Many of us put off making a Will because we don’t want to face our own mortality, but your Will is actually about your life and what you value the most.

Providing for those closest to you normally forms the basis of your legacy. But what about also making one final gift that reflects your core values of compassion and generosity to add to your legacy?
