This month meet Dalal, our inspiring foster carer who is bringing families together. We also encourage you to challenge yourself by joining the Champions Ride, which will help make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children. Be inspired by Tegan, a domestic violence survivor who is currently thriving and download some recipes from our popular Cook-A-Long, Play-A-Long program.
Meet our inspiring foster carer Dalal
Watch Dalal’s short-term foster care journey and how one foster baby changed not only her life, but brought two families together.
She also shares how, as a Muslim, caring for children and families in need is an important part of her faith.
Tegan is a domestic violence survivor. Her courage and determination to live was nothing short of amazing. It's been five years since Tegan was first referred to our Linker domestic violence service and her life has changed so much. She is now completing her degree in Bachelor of Social Sciences while caring for her children.
“I love who I am today – wow, that was big to say – but I do, I like the person that I am. I’m looking after my kids, I’m here, I’m present, I’m very capable of doing this on my own, which I never thought I would be" - Tegan
Our Cook-A-Long, Play-A-Long program was a very popular 10-week home-based nutrition and family support program that was run out of our Canberra Centre. Participants received weekly online cooking workshops, recipes and useful information sheets about parenting and healthy eating habits. You can download our popular recipes here.
At Barnardos, we're able to do the vital work we do for children because of the generous donations we receive from our supporters. If you are inspired by these stories, please join us by making a donation to help bring hope, joy and safety to the lives of Australia’s most vulnerable children.
