Welcome to December's edition of B. inspired!

How fast this year has flown! With Christmas only weeks away, we would like to thank you all for being champions for children in 2023. Your unwavering support enabled us to be there for aussie kids in need, each and every day.

From all of us here at Barnardos, we hope you have a wonderful festive season and a happy New Year!

We are proud to present the release of our Annual Review 2022-2023

Featuring stories of our children's champions in action, this publication highlights the issues children, young people and families face and how we help. It outlines our strategy and practice, as well as our impact on our community.

From speaking up for children through our advocacy work, to our amazing foster carers, youth outreach and programs supporting mums in custody - it’s a great look at who we are and what we do!

"Once this little person comes into your life you will never look back"

Before starting a family, Rory and Dan tested the waters by becoming respite foster carers to 12-year-old Ben for just one weekend a month.

Fast forward 8 years and they’ve seen Ben grow into a wonderful young man who is part of their family, and they are now parents to two-year-old Shaq.

Share the joy of giving!

Help us make sure that vulnerable children receive a gift this Christmas through our Barnardos Gifts for Kids appeal.

Simply select a gift you’d like to purchase, and we’ll do the rest by distributing your gifts to our Barnardos Centres.

Help us play Santa and bring joy to children who would otherwise go without.

GIVE A GIFT TO A CHILD

    16 Days of Activism

During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gendered-Based Violence, Barnardos Australia is urging everyone to recognise the profound and lasting impact of domestic violence on children and join us in advocating for change. We are calling upon individuals, communities, and policymakers to be the advocates these voiceless children desperately need.

"I like HIPPY because there is a mud kitchen"

Last month in Warrawong on the South Coast of NSW, 25 families graduated from our Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY).

HIPPY is a pre-school program that provides structured, education-focused resources and support through playgroups and home-visits by HIPPY tutors, enabling parents to spend more time with their children in activities that enhance cognitive and social/emotional development, preparing them for the transition to school.

Hear from some of the graduates as they tell us what their favourite thing about HIPPY was.

    FAVOURITE THING ABOUT HIPPY

    B. a champion for children

At Barnardos, we are able to do the vital work we do for children because of the generous donations we receive from our supporters.

This Christmas you can protect children from the devastating effects of domestic and family violence by donating to our Christmas Appeal. Your gift will help them escape danger and provide the support they need to begin to recover from trauma.
